The New KIA

Winter in FL 2010-2011

After leaving SC, we visited St Mary's GA and Fernandina Beach FL.  These are places we have always wanted to see but always passed them by.  We loved Fernandina on Amelia Island.  We are happy we took the time to go.

We are back in Titusville FL for the winter.  It was a great Summer and now it is time to stay put for the season.  We are in our 12th year of full-timing and are thinking of settling down.  We put our RV lot on the market.  It may take 2 years to sell so we will take our time to figure out the rest.  Traveling will always be part of our lifestyle.  We decided it was to time to have an economical, comfortable car to drive around in.  We bought a KIA Soul and are very happy with it.  Driving a one ton 6 speed pick-up all the time can wear you out!

The shuttle was scheduled to lift off on November 1.  The town was full of activity while people waited.  It continued to be delayed and everyone left.  Now, it is scheduled for early next year and my friend Carol came down from St Augustine to see her first shuttle lift off close up.  Unfortunately there was only about 5 seconds before it went into the clouds.

We had Thanksgiving dinner with our friends and neighbors, Marlene & Ron Lewis.  We played Pegs & Jokers and had a wonderful meal.  Brian & Lyn came down for the Christmas holiday.  We were lucky enough to have one good day of FL weather and we went to the beach for Christmas photos.  The next day was windy and cold.  They made a fantastic dinner for us: Salt Roasted Prime Rib with Oven Roasted Potatoes.  For desert Flambeed Pineapple Creme Broulee.

The New Year brought some cold weather.  Taking the plants indoors to protect them and then returning them outside every few days gets to be a challenge.  We managed to get though with out any damaged plants.  We went to the RV show in Tampa and met up with our friends from Riverbend.  We had a good dinner at the Columbia Restaurant in Ybor City.  Then went down to Naples to visit our old NJ friends, the Mansfield's and the Fischer's.  On our way back we stopped to see George & Marla in Port Charlotte.  This is where we started to plan our next adventure of chartering a sailboat in the British Virgin Islands in June.

By March, the winter is over and our warm weather is back to stay!  My sister Nancy came for a few days to enjoy the beach.  We spend the rest of our time planning our summer and getting the RV ready to roll again.

Besides going sailing in the BVI, we will be going to Michigan, the Upper Penninsula, Canada, NH, NY, NJ and NC this summer.
