Smathers Beach, Key West FL
Winter in Florida was pretty uneventful this year. We have our RV Lot and Executive Suite for sale and hope to move on to part- time travel and own a home. But, sales are slow and we do not sell. We will enjoy our current lifestyle and travel as much as we can. Not so bad, Right?
We spent Thanksgiving in Florida. At Christmas, Brian & Lyn came down from Greenville SC to celebrate the holiday. Our Grandson, Chris, joined us while on leave from his Coast Guard Station in Jacksonville FL. We had a few nice days at the beach. Brian and Lyn created their Christmas dinner of Salt Encrusted Prime Rib with all the extras. A good time was had by all.
February we celebrated our 41st Anniversary in Key West. We rented an apartment in town and had a great time. It is a fun place to visit for people watching and entertainment. We had our Anniversary Dinner at Ambrosia Sushi restaurant. We have visited Key West many times but never took the tour of Hemingway house which was very interesting. We took a boat ride to the Dry Tortugas and Fort Jefferson. We hoped for it to be nice and warm to go snorkeling and beach time. But it was cold and windy and only the hardy and desperate went into the water. Otherwise, it was a great place to visit.
Ron kept busy planning our trip for our trip west this summer. We are heading West this this year to Yosemite, Grand Canyon and a few of the National Parks in Utah. We will also hit Mesa Verde and Monument Valley in Colorado.
Ron had sad news before we left Florida that his oldest brother, Bob, suffered a head injury and had brain damage. He passed away a few days later. We were able to visit him in the hospital before he died to say "good-bye".
Before we start our trip west, we spent a month in Greenville helping Brian & Lyn remodel their kitchen and family room. Lots of hard work but fun to be able to help. Ron enjoyed working on his own "This Old House" project!
