SUMMER 2014
This summer we traveled Northeast. From FL to North Carolina, New York, New Hampshire, Quebec City, Gaspesie Quebec, Prince Edward Island, Maine and back to New Hampshire and South Carolina.
Ron and Ginny in Old Quebec
With the Family in South Carolina
July: We spent a couple of weeks for Ron to get his building fix with Brian. It was time to build a deck for Lyn. We had fun and enjoyed a nice get-together with Jim, Bev, Matt and the grand-dogs.
On the road to New Hampshire
July: We took about a week to get up to New Hampshire. Along the way we stopped in the Shenandoah Mountains in Virginia. We visited Ron's Uncle Larry in New York State.
New Hampshire visit with family
July and September: We visited Jack and the kids in July and then again in September. Jack bought a new truck! Vickie is in Beauty School and gave me a great haircut. We had fun picking apples in September. We now know that we could never live up north again. It gets too cold even in the Fall!
Old Quebec City
August: This was our first time in Quebec and we had a great time. There was no problem with the language in the city. Almost everyone speaks some English. The city is very European and clean.
Gaspé Peninsula
in Quebec
in Quebec
August: The Gaspe Peninsula is a coastal region of eastern Quebec
surrounded by the St. Lawrence waterway as well as by the Bay of
Chaleur. The only main road follows the shoreline so we were always on the water. It is not very populated and very beautiful.
Prince Edward Island
This was also our first time to Prince Edward Island. The scenery is beautiful farmlands and the sea. Red Rocks along the sea with green background. We enjoyed a 4 pound pot of mussels. Fresh new potatoes were everywhere. Good eats!
Coastal Maine
Mid-August to Mid-September: We were happy to get back into the USA! Welcome Maine. We spent the month going down the coast and getting as much lobster that we could. Sisters, Judi and Nancy were on a cruise and we met them in Portland for a day tour. Then, we hooked up with friends, the Pollocks and the Mohrs as they were returning from their tour of Newfoundland. Good times!
Kingston, NY
We stopped in Kingston NY on our way back south to visit with brother Bob, Karen and family. Judi was also visiting there. Both Karen and Bob's girls stopped over for visits. It was great to see all!
New Jersey
Cannot head south without a visit to NJ. We got to meet our newest great-grandson. It was a great day with Amanda, Jack and Cassie on Long Beach Island and the lighthouse. We went to Seaside Heights to see what happened after Hurricane Sandy.
September: We make our way back to Florida. From NJ we took the Cape May Ferry to Delaware. We planned on going to Assateague National Park for a few days, but the forecast for 20-30MPH winds kept us away. We went to an RV park in Virginia near the water and got infested with fruit flies. We later learn that everyone who goes there said the same thing! We stop in Greenville SC for a visit with our kids on our way back. Back in FL, we prepare for our 3 weeks in Saint Thomas at The Green Iguana Hotel.
