WINTER IN FLORIDA 2013-2014

Our wildlife in Florida

Things stay pretty much the same for us in Florida.  We continue to have our RV lot and suite on the market.  Although we have had many lookers, there have been no offers.

After returning from our St. Thomas experience it is time to think about the holidays.  But, Ron had more bad news from his family.  Roy, his younger brother, had a heart attack and had bypass surgery.  He was responding well, went home and died 2 days later from complications.  He flew up to NJ for the funeral.

We flew up to Greenville SC after Thanksgiving to visit for the holidays.  Then, at Christmas, Jim, Bev & Matt came for a visit on their way to Disney World.  Jim treated us to a nicely Roasted Prime Rib for dinner.  We are very lucky to have 3 sons who like to do the cooking!

We spent New Years Eve with our friends, Ron & Marlene.  We played cards and had a dinner of heavy appetizers.  As usual, we do not make it until midnight!  Our New Years Day plan of going to the beach does not work out very well.  It is rainy and cold.  So, we take our picnic to the Indian River inlet and sit near the fishing pier and have our drinks and lunch.

In February, we take the trailer and visit our friends in Naples and Port Charlotte.  In Port Charlotte, we plan our next Sailing trip to the British Virgin Islands in June.  This time there will be 4 couples and a niece and nephew of George & Marla.  It will be different to plan for 10 people on a 50 foot catamaran.

In April, I take a cruise with my sisters, Nancy & Judi, to the Bahamas to celebrate Nancy's 75th birthday.  The weather was perfect and we enjoyed being with each other and going to the beaches.

During the end of April and May, we see everyone leave the Great Outdoors RV Resort in FLto head back to where ever they live.  It is the most beautiful time of the year.  The weather is warm, the ocean gets warm, the flowers bloom and the snow birds go away.  It becomes very quiet, but nice.  We prepare for our Virgin Islands escape.  A few days at the Green Iguana Hotel in St. Thomas, a week sailing around British Virgin Islands, and a couple more days in St. Thomas.

When we get back we prepare to leave for the summer.  This year, our first stop is to help Brian & Lyn build a deck in their backyard.  We stay at River Bend RV park in NC and go down over the weekend.  Our plan this summer is to visit Jack & the kids in New Hampshire, go into Canada to Quebec and Prince Edward Island.  Then, make our way into Maine and reverse our way back to FL.
