Oct 2008-May 2009: TGO Titusville FL
We start another year at our little home in FL.  At times it seems like a lot of work to maintain but it is worth it.  We enjoy having the extra space for ourselves and guests.  Ron got his workshop fixed up and made a glass lampshade for our bakers rack.  He also works on setting up drip irrigation for our plants while we go away for the summer.  My goal this winter was to go through all my old photo albums and downsize them.  It was a bigger job than I expected, but I accomplished 75% of it.  This summer we plan to go back to Alaska.  But, this time with a truck camper or a smaller trailer, like an Airstream.  We go to the RV show in Tampa and check out dealers around the area.  The new Airstream Trailers have been redesigned and are not comfortable.  The truck campers were either too small or too heavy for our truck.  So, we will be going on our 5th wheel.

We get back into playing Pegs & Jokers with our neighbors, Ron & Marlene on a weekly basis.  We got together with them for Thanksgiving.  We each baked a turkey, with our dressings and shared side dishes.  Their daughter and 2 grand-daughters joined us for our meal.

Ginny’s sister, Nancy, visited and we were lucky to have great weather to enjoy the beach every day.  Then, in March, we flew to Austin to celebrate her 70th birthday and a family reunion with my brother, Bob and sister, Judi.  It has been many years since we have all been together.  It was a lot of fun.

Our friends, Marla & George visited us from Port Charlotte.  It was a cold weekend.  We took a scenic drive around Merritt Island Wildlife area.  There were people kite surfing in Mosquito Lagoon and the waterways.  It turned out to be a very interesting day as one of the spectators tried to turn around on the narrow road and put his nice Cadillac Escalade into a ditch.  The men ran over to help him get it out.

For Christmas, Brian & Lyn came down from Greenville.  The weather was great, so we could go to the beach and the pool.  Ron & Brian had fun with a round of golf, while Lyn & I enjoyed the pool.

Our friend Michael Malta passed away at the end of January.  He was diagnosed with brain cancer about a year ago and he enjoyed his life until the end.

The weather was pretty mild during the winter, until February.  Then, the temps went down to the upper 20’s for a night or two and then again 2 weeks later for a few days.  Many plants were affected by the freezing temperatures and died.  After the freezing temperatures it was mostly windy and was not a good season for the beach and fishing.

Bill & Gisela Pollock stayed in the RV site across the street for the month of February.  We walked almost every day and played Pegs & jokers during Happy Hour.  The games, food and wine was enjoyed by all!

For Easter, we went up to Greenville SC to be with Brian, Lyn, Jim, Bev and the boys.  The men had a good time playing a round of golf.

Then, by the time we got back to Florida, it was time to prepare for our trip to Alaska!
